342 Cap Rack for aluminum Canopies

14 02 2010

We install lots of custom truck and van racks. Typically most canopies are made of fiberglass but sometimes there are specialty aluminum skinned canopies which are far to flexible to support any weight.

The solution was to use the canopies frame which supports the skin. This greatly improved the strength of the mounts and made for a clean, super functional truck rack.

Installs like this is what sets Rack Attack apart from other rack stores. We specialize in custom one off installations for your unique needs.

All Finished the install

This Rack is mounted directly into the roof of the vehicle and with its low profile design with articulating base for mounting to uneven rooflines it fits just about any vehicle.

The process starts with drilling two holes in each corner of the vehicle to attach the bracket that you mount the bars onto. These bars are removable, but YOU want to carry stuff in all seasons and with the silicon seal around these holes you can be sure that there wont be any leaking.

And if you are asking yourself, what can I use to hold the equipment on these bars. Well, with the included powder coated aluminum adjustable load stops combined with some straps, you wont have anything sliding around.

This rack system has the potential to carry up to 500lbs! And Any of the following accesories:

-Thule 329 Ladder Lift System
-Thule 339 Ladder Tilt System
-Thule 326 Awning
-Thule 337 Conduit Kit – 4 Inch
-Thule 316 Roller

And Much Much more.

Alright V300 ladder rack

6 08 2009

This is a custom install of a V300 ladder rack system. The front was mounted on the cab of the Dakota and the rear was mounted on the canopy. The V300 ladder rack is a requirement if working for Shaw cable.

Installation and assembly of the V300 is around 3-4 hours. Mounting of the V300 on the cab was by bigger plusnuts and in the canopy it was mounted using  nuts and bolts. Drilling through the roof is required.

2008 Ford Ranger/Mazda P/U with 375 & 397 overhead cab extension

At Rack Attack we provide sales and installations on the customers needs. After a long discussion with a customer with a 2008 Ford Ranger 4dr short box, we came to the conclusion that he need a rack that was strong and that was long enough to protect the cab of the truck.  So he went with the Thule 375

Ford Ranger with Thule 375 & 397

Ford Ranger with Thule 375 & 397

and also the Thule 397 overhead extension  http://www.rackattack.com/product-pages/thule-397-over-the-cab-extension.asp  the overhead extension allows you to carry long loads like kayaks, ladders, planks etc on a truck that is a short box with a extra cab or 4 doors. The biggest tip I can give for the installations on this install is read the 397 instructions  first as there is a lot of set up for this before you can start putting the 375 together. Also because this is a high quality rack all the hardware is stainless and we recommend using a product like permatex Anti-seize this prevents the stainless on stainless from seizing while installing/adjusting or taking apart at a later date. Another hint or tip when doing the install is put the rack all together finger tight then once everything is assembled and where you want it then proceed to torque everything down. This process for one person to do will take about 2-3 hours depending on experience. This rack combo is great for the contractor during the week and weekend warrior paddler on his days off.
